Babu works for three underworld dons, and must go to prison to protectthem. When his sentence is over, he returns home to find that his wife,Purnima, son, Arjun, and daughter, Pooja, living a destitute life. Whenhe confronts his bosses, he is beheaded in front of his wife andchildren, and his daughter is abducted. Purnima loses her mind, and ishospitalized in a mental hospital. Arjun (Akshay Kumar) is a highprofile vigilante who soon encounters a problem when his mother(Raakhee) becomes terribly ill and can be saved only if she see her owndaughter. Years later, Arjun has now grown up, and he ready to re-unitehis sister and mother, but first he must find the killers, and theirnew identities, and then confront the many obstacles they will placeagainst him, to keep him from reaching his sister. When he begins themission he meets the exuberant Tina (Kareena Kapoor). Tina is a glamourdoll who is the one person who can help Arjun get what he wants. Butbefore he can get to him she sets out with her father to South Africa.Now, Akshay must battle those that he has to overcome to get what heneeds to help his mother and survive the wilderness. He embarksprimarily to South Africa to track down Tina and begin his search.There he meets Sardar Vichiatra Singh(Gulshan Grover), who isex-hawaldar in Mumbai Police and now running a taxi in South Africa.With his help he reaches to a club where all underworld people meet anddrink. Dhanakpur village farmer Thakur Jaswant Singh (Alok Nath) and DhanrajSingh (Dalip Tahil) are brothers. They have a younger sister Madhumati,who was used, made pregnant and ditched by Ratan Singh, the son ofThakur Raghuveer Singh from a big Rajput family in the same village,who is now into getting married to another woman. The family refusesJawant Singh's request to get his sister married to Ratan Singh.Ratan's family refuses to accept that he is guilty, as they areinterested in their family's status. Insulted Jaswant Singh, decides toleave the village. Unable to tolerate the events, Madhumati commitssuicide. Frustrated by this event, Dhanraj Singh kills Ratan Singh athis wedding and gets imprisoned. The two families are now bitterenemies. Jaswant Singh moves to Delhi and, with his friend Bhagwan Das,develops his clothing business and reach good status; he also takes theresponsibility to raise Dhanraj's kids. Years later, Dhanraj getsreleased from the prison. Upon release, Dhanraj receives a letter fromhis son, Raj (Aamir Khan), an ardent music lover, who completes hiseducation in Rajput College. An emotional Dhanraj sneaks into Raj'scollege farewell party and is glad to see his son fulfill his dreams.
In a twist of fate, Raj and his buddy go to Dhanakpur to clear hisfamily's land deal. While returning home, Raj falls for Randhir'sdaughter, Rashmi (Juhi Chawla) and sneaks as an uninvited guest intoRandhir's residence at Rashmi's birthday bash. After a while he managesto sneak out. Coincidently, the two meet again at a holiday and huntingspot. They are lost in the forest, finding a way out, and in theprocess fall in love. Raj finds out about Rashmi's family but is unableto tell her the truth. Dhanraj tells Rashmi the truth about Raj'sbackground and that she must forget about him. When Randhir Singh, thefamily member of Raghuveer Singh, finds out about this affair, heimmediately arranges Rashmi's wedding. The two lovers take on theirfamilies and elope, dreaming of an idyllic life together.
Furious at the turn of events, Randhir Singh hires a contract killer totrace the couple and kill Raj. The lovers have a brief interval ofhappiness before retribution strikes. They stay in a deserted fort.When Randhir gets to know their whereabouts, he goes to bring Rashmihome and ensure that Raj is killed. Randhir's mother does not wish forthis to happen so she goes to Dhanraj and tells him to save them. Rajleaves the fort to bring some wood for their house. While Raj is away,Randhir meets up with Rashmi and tells her to pack her stuff and comehome; he has accepted their love. Rashmi, overjoyed with her father'swords proceeded to follow his instructions. Meanwhile, in the forest,Raj is being chased by the henchmen. Dhanraj reaches the fort and doesnot believe Randhir's words of accepting Raj. Dhanraj repeatedly askshim about his son's whereabouts. They get in a fight and a gunshot isheard in the forest. Rashmi leaves the scene to make sure that Raj isokay. He was about to be shot, but on seeing Rashmi, the henchmanshoots her. She rolls down the hill. Raj takes the gun and shoots theman. He reaches Rashmi's side and they promised never to leave eachother. On saying this, Rashmi breathes her last. A grief-stricken Rajis devastated by this incident and says that nothing can separate them.He commits suicide with a dagger given to him by Rashmi. The finalscene is the family running towards them; they are together as the sunsets behind them.

synopsis:-
Pooja Dharamchand (Pooja Bhatt) is the daughter of a rich Mumbai shipping tycoon, Seth Dharamchand (Anupam Kher). She is head over heels in love with movie star Deepak Kumar (Sameer Chitre), but her father strongly disapproves of their courtship. One night, Pooja escapes from her father's yacht and hops on a bus to Bangalore to be with Deepak, who is on a shooting there. Meanwhile, Seth Dharamchand, realizing his daughter has run away, dispatches private detectives to locate her.
On the bus to Bangalore, Pooja meets Raghu Jetley (Aamir Khan), a loud-mouth newspaperman who has just lost his job. He offers to help her in exchange for an exclusive story on her, which would revive his flagging career. Pooja is forced to agree to his demands, as he threatens to let her father know of her whereabouts should she not comply. After the bus breaks down, Raghu and Pooja go through various adventures together, and in their course find themselves falling more and more in love with each other. Raghu desires to marry Pooja, but financially he is in no shape to do so. He simply wanted a story on her life, but never wanted to win her heart. But later on he falls for her. Pooja also falls for Raghu and she decides to go with him but a misunderstanding leads her to believe that Raghu was just looking for a story and not her love. She calls it quits and goes back to Kher and agrees to marry Deepak. On the wedding day she realises her mistake and then runs away from the marriage mandap to Raghu and the movie ends on a good note.
